“Law, order and unity.” The motto of the Dominion. A motto spoken daily by its inhabitants. For those who conform, the Dominion is a safe, calm place to live. For those who do not conform, it is a land of terror. The Dominion of Albion rules most of the Northlands under its harmonious sway (the Caldonians would call it an “iron fist”). Frequently at war with the Remnant and/or the NCR, the Dominion wants to push its borders further into the Hard Lands. The Faithful in the Dominion are ruled by the “White Temple” which is led by a woman known as the “Shield-Maiden of the Guardian.” The White Temple is based in Dominion City.
The Temple Guard enforces law and order throughout Albion. They investigate petty crime, suppress heresy, and protect dignitaries. They also guard the gates of cities in Albion and control traffic in and out of them. Generally the guard is well respected, however it is also somewhat feared. While not an outright secret police, the guard is quick to ask questions and enforce the law strictly even for minor infrictions.
The High Temple Guard is an elite organization in the Temple Guard which directly reports the “Shield Maiden of the Guardian”. The High Temple Guard is led by the “Captain of the Guard”, a position which for the last 80 years has been filled by members of the Wareign family, The Captain also commands the regular Temple Guard. Below the Captain sits the rank of commander, and below that are Lieutenants. Being part of the High Temple Guard imparts a lot of prestige within Albion and even beyond that. Generally a Lieutenant in the High Guard can offer suggestions to Commanders in the Temple Guard which for most part are taken as commands. Usually the High Temple Guard is only getting involved in serious crime, but it also investigates cases of heresy against the faith. It is widely rumored that the High Temple Guard runs a secret prison for apostates, and maybe even general political prisoners - people who try to undermine the supremacy of the Shield Maiden.
